Foster

Foster caring is an essential aspect of our mission to provide exceptional care to our furry companions. Our foster care program offers a flexible opportunity for cat lovers to contribute to our vital work, even if they cannot make a long-term commitment to adoption.

As a foster carer, you volunteer to provide a nurturing, safe, and loving home for a cat until they are ready for adoption. This may be for a short period, such as a week or two, or much longer, and it makes a huge difference in helping our cats become confident and playful or recover from illness. You will never be alone in this process, as we provide complete support and veterinary care services.

Foster care FAQs

  • It depends on what you are capable of, and what you are willing to take on. Our foster kitties could be:

    • orphaned kittens requiring to be hand reared

    • pregnant cats or cats with litters

    • kittens that are too young for adoption

    • cats or kittens that are shy and need time to get used to people

    • injured or sick kitties receiving treatment

  • No! However we do welcome contributions or help where you can. Otherwise, we provide everything you need to care for our cats, including:

    • food

    • bowls

    • kitty litter

    • toys

    • blankets

    • beds

    • playpens/crates

    • guidance and support

  • Depending on the individual cats' needs and what you are capable of providing, fostering arrangements can last from 2 weeks to long-term (6+ months), all the way up to foster-to-adopt.

  • A safe space in your home and time to give good quality and loving care.

  • We love foster situations that have pets at home already, provided that your pets are healthy, desexed and vaccinated. Having pets at home allows our fosters to learn to be comfortable with other animals and thus being more adoptable! We do ask that you give 2 weeks of introducing time between the fosters and your pets.

  • Yes! We give first preference to the foster carer if they choose to keep a cat or kitten. You will just need to fill out an application to make sure it's a good fit as a forever home.

  • We provide training and support every step of the way, day or night.

  • You will need to keep your foster kitty safe, confined, fed, given clean water, a hygienic space, a clean litter tray, enrichment activities (toys and active playtime), regular socialisation and medication (if needed).

If they will be around other pets or children, it is expected that you supervise safe interactions, or keep them apart.

We also require regular health updates and weight check-ins, as well as photos for our website & social media. We put trust in you to care for fosters like you would your family.
